WOW! I did what LLL calls extended breastfeeding with BOTH of my children--son 2 years, 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days. Daughter 18 months--had to quit due to thyroid problems/testing. I truly believe breastfeeding IS the way to go. Could I do it? Me personally...I don't think so. Would I *freak* at someone else doing it? Probably wouldn't know/care. I agree with the wet nurse statement. Women have done this for centuries. However...I think I would also have planned better...having been engorged and hosing people down, I carried extra pads in my purse. BUT...that is me. :) just my 2¢.
